— THE QUESTION THAT BEGAN IT ALL

When a child is lost, not just in place, but in self, an elder reaches out a hand. Not to carry them. To show them the direction.

This is a brand founded on that gesture. Not instruction. Not rescue. A hand extended between one who carries knowledge and one who is hungry for it.

Zimuzo Africa was created in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2021. It began with teas. It was always about something larger — the preservation of African culture, the documentation of African wisdom, and the building of a luxury house that requires no outside validation to define itself.

The name is the entire philosophy. Every product, every story, every blend is an answer to the same ancient question: who will show us the way?

— THE AFRICA WE BUILD IN

Rich in knowledge.

Precise in beauty.

Deeply, quietly itself.

Zimuzo Africa draws from a civilisation with extraordinary depth. The Uli art of the Igbo — practised for centuries by women who understood beauty as meaning — is the visual language of this brand. The curvilinear lines, the geometric precision, the diamond forms: all of it carries weight that predates this brand and will outlast it.

The name is Igbo. The visual identity is Igbo. And from that specific, rooted place, we speak to all of Africa.

Our teas draw from African botanical knowledge — herbs that have been grown, named, and understood across this continent for generations. Moringa, African Basil, Hibiscus, Bitter Kola. Each one carries a story that belongs to the people who cultivated it. We source from Nigerian farmers. We draw from the breadth of the continent — the Akan, the Yoruba, the Hausa, the Zulu, the Wolof. Every culture here has its own deep well. We draw from all of it.

— THE VISUAL LANGUAGE

Uli - the art form

at the heart of Zimuzo

Uli is an ancient Igbo art form — a tradition of applying curvilinear, geometric designs to the human body and to the walls of buildings using plant-based dye. Its lines are flowing and precise. Its forms are organic without being accidental. Every mark carried meaning — beauty understood not as decoration, but as knowledge made visible.

The designs were impermanent by nature. Applied in dye, they faded over days and weeks. What remained was not the mark itself, but the understanding of what it held. The art was in the making and in the knowing.

Uli was practised across Igbo communities — by those who understood that a body, a wall, a surface could carry meaning as easily as a spoken word. It is one of the most sophisticated visual traditions on the continent, and it has always belonged entirely to itself.

— IN THIS BRAND

The diamond form at the centre of the Zimuzo logo is drawn directly from Uli’s tradition of symmetrical, geometric precision. The curvilinear lines that appear throughout our packaging draw from the same well. Their presence here is continuation — a living tradition carried forward through the objects we make.

— WHAT WE STAND FOR

Three Commitments

No exceptions

01

The Herbs

Every ingredient in every Zimuzo blend is sourced directly from smallholder farmers in Nigeria. Every herb has a name. Every name has a home. Nothing in our teas is anonymous — and none of our farmers are either. We pay fairly, and we build relationships that last. Organic farming only.

02

The Culture

Every product has a direct, traceable link to one of the many African cultural traditions. The Uli art, the oral histories, the botanical knowledge… these are not decoration. They are the reason the brand exists. We document, we preserve, and we never manufacture a cultural narrative that is not ours to tell.

03

The Community

The farmers who grow our herbs. The tea drinkers who carry our products from Lagos to London to Toronto. The historians and linguists building The Vault. These are not peripheral to Zimuzo. They are central. As this brand grows, the communities that made it possible grow with it. That is the commitment.

— The journey

A record of our presence

Zimuzo moves slowly and deliberately. Each year adds something that will still be here in ten.

A question asked. A brand conceived. The word Zimuzo chosen as the north star that would guide every decision to follow.

Relationships built with smallholder farming communities across Nigeria. Organic sourcing standards set from the beginning — not as a trend, but as a minimum.

Seven blends formulated, each rooted in a specific wellness purpose and a specific cultural story. Dawn’s Awakening leads the range.

The brand meets its audience in person for the first time. The response confirms what was always true: there is a deep hunger for this. Dawn’s Awakening sells out in the first week of launch. The collection is live. The Vault is being built. The horizon is wide.

Seven blends. Each one rooted in a story, grown by people with names, and designed for a specific moment in your day. This is where the philosophy becomes something you can hold.
